Wastex - Serving the waste and recycling sector
in Scotland
Wastex 2004 is the biggest waste and recycling exhibition and conference in Scotland.
The two-day, trade event provides a unique opportunity for companies and organisations wishing to reach the rapidly expanding market in local government, businesses and third sector organisations for products and services designed to handle, re-use, recycle and dispose of waste materials - solid, liquid or gaseous - from domestic, commercial and industrial waste producers.
The event will be essential networking and fact-finding for everyone involved with waste in Scotland, the north of England and Northern Ireland.
It will provide a showcase for presenting and demonstrating the latest technologies, techniques and ideas, as well as providing a forum for discussion and debate for professionals in waste and recycling.
Conference
The two-day conference, featuring top speakers from the UK and abroad, will focus on the main issues of the day.
Seminars
The programme of free, half-hour seminars provide exhibitors with an ideal opportunity to promote their products / services by presenting short talks on the latest developments of their techniques and technologies.
Lunchtime debate
The very successful question and answer forum for professionals in waste and recycling will be presented over lunchtime on Wednesday 27th October. Admission free.
Social programme
A special evening of Scottish dancing, entertainment and cuisine is planned as a social and networking opportunity for exhibitors and guests on the evening of 27th October.
The Venue

The brand new Highland Exhibition Hall at the Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston, in Edinburgh, offers 8400 sq m of clearspan exhibition space, a separate conference area and breakout rooms, enabling the whole event to be held indoors and avoiding the vagaries of the weather.
The venue is situated alongside Edinburgh’s international airport, about eight miles west of the city centre.
It has car parking for several thousand cars and is at the junction of the M8 motorway from Glasgow (45 mins), the M9 from Stirling (35 mins), the M90 from Perth, Dundee, Inverness and Aberdeen and the Edinburgh City By-pass, giving access from the east and south (the Borders, Newcastle etc). The Location
Edinburgh is Scotland’s Capital city and home to both the Scottish Parliament and the Scottish Executive.
The city is well served by transport links by air from major UK and European cities, as well as by road and rail, including regular, 15 minute rail services from Glasgow into Edinburgh’s Waverley and Haymarket stations.
Edinburgh boasts a wide choice of accommodation, ranging from the prestigious Balmoral and Caledonian Hotels on Princes Street to smaller, private hotels and bed and breakfast establishments. Several are within walking distance of the venue.
Edinburgh is an internationally recognised tourist destination and boasts restaurants to suit all culinary tastes, from African to Mongolian, as well as pubs, clubs and other places of entertainment.
