Fishermen’s Oilskins with buoyancy
Photograph taken from the Norwegian rescue helicopter showing Stian Furøy, wearing the Regatta Fishermen jacket and trousers, holding on to his companion.
Fishermen’s oilskins saves lives!
Testimonial from south Wales, UK
In January 2009, in sub-zero temperatures, Jonathan Voyce, a fisherman, who worked on his boat alone, returned to Swansea docks and tied up at his berth on a pontoon.
He carried some fish ashore and, was returning to his boat down a gangway, when he slipped on the ice and fell into the water, striking his head against the quay wall as he did so.
He regained consciousness underwater and felt the buoyancy of the Regatta Fishermen’s trousers lift him to the surface. They kept him floating the right way up until a passer-by, who had seen the accident, got to him and pulled him out.
Jonathan readily admits he would now be dead if not for the built-in buoyancy in the Regatta oilskins. He has been left with a nasty scar across the top of his head to remind him and others of his narrow escape.
